Post HPV and Cervical Dysplasia

I am struggling. I am a 23 year old female and have never had sex. When I was 17, I had my first OBGYN appointment. After that appointment, I have had 3 coloposcopies, and numerous abnormal pap smears. Three doctors have told me that I have HPV and that means that someone somewhere has penetrated me. I just don't understand how that could be... Isn't there some other explaination? I am so confused. None of the biopsy have shown any signs of cancer, however, all my paps come back high risk. I am scheduled to see an gynecological onocologist in the next few months. I was adopted at 6 months of age and have none of my medical history or background. I hate to think that the only explanation is that I have repressed some abuse at an early age of which I show no symptoms... Can someone please help me.

First off if you haven't had sex, it doesn't mean somewhere down the line you were penetrated. It can be passed down thru your Mother if she had it...I don't rememeber if you can get it thru your father's genes but I don't see why not. When you say you've had 3 coloposcopies, was it just them looking at you with the big *** microscope, or were you ALSO treated for the dysplasia? If not, I don't know what kind of doctors you're seeing but you NEED to get it taken care of NOW. There's a few treatments...LEEP, cryosurgery, laser, and electrocautery. What did your bio come back? I'm assuming if your PAP came back high risk so did your bio. Do you know anything about abnormal paps or abnormal tissue biopsy or did they just tell you what you had and not explain anything to you? Just because, again, I'm 90% sure you need to get treatment if your PAP is coming back high risk because it means "high grade dysplasia...early looking cancer cells...precancerous"

6 stages for the PAP...normal, ASCUS, low grade, high grade, Cancer in situ, and then full blown carcinoma.

For the biopsy there's 7 stages...normal, Atypical, CIN-I, CIN-II, CIN-III, Cancer in situ, and then carcinoma.

If you want fuller defs of the stages let me know and I'll give a little more info. Anyway, my PAP came back low grade dysplasia...and my biopsy ended up coming back CIN-III with is high grade dysplasia...precancerous cells. Which were almost bordering on the CIS. Anyway, I ended up getting the LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure) because it was basically all I could to make sure everything was fixed 100%.

Hope this helped and if you have any more questions about this...I'll be happy to answer if I can. I'm just not sure what else I can tell you unless you let me know your biopsy results. Just because your doctor/doctors told you it's not cancerous, doesn't mean crap. When you get certain treatments, they can tell you more...such as LEEP because they can test it all and not just the small portion from your biopsy. Okay...I'm really going now, lol. Take care and if you want to know anything else, just ask (by the way, I'm also 23)

You can't get genital HPV from your mother. You can catch other forms of HPV (espcially those found in the throat and mouth) from the birth canal. However, abnormal pap smears are often from a sexually transmitted HPV virus. You don't actually have to have had sexual intercourse to pick up the virus. It's a skin to skin contractable disease, and condoms are usually not very reliable in controlling the virus. Therefore, if you were involved in any kind of sexual touching, or foreplay, you might still have picked up the virus without having had intercourse. Many people get this virus, 50-60 percent of sexually active adults pick it up at one time in their life. However, your immune systems will generally fight it off in a year or two.
