There are over 80 strains of HPV and 25% are exclusive to the genital area. Of those there are only a few that cause visible warts.

HPV is a very common virus and about 50-60 percent of sexually active teens/adults will be infected at some point in their lives. Most people have subclinical infections, which are usually detected by a pap smear. Genital warts are also very common, and there are many misconceptions about the disease. Unlike previously thought, most HPV viruses will clear within a year or two in those people with healthy immune systems. The virus usually does not remain in your body for life, since natural immune systems will tend to fight it off.

Ok, so I have HPV, but no warts, my bf has no warts, he should still be tested Im assuming, and will he need to be treated? I'm having a LEEP procedure done in a few weeks, and obviously don't want to be reinfected if he still has the virus in his system after my procedure.
