Re: Is anyone else on the board a hypochondriac????
Yes, I seem to be a hypo. but I'm not sure. I have IBS and Fibro and I don't know if those two things cause me to be anxious or if my anxiety makes them worse. I do know that if I hear about an illness, I immediatley think that I will get it and sometimes develop symptoms of that disease.
I really worry about heart attacks because there are so many symptoms that mimic the symptoms of a heart attack and the media has them all over. Therefore, if I have indigestion - it must be a heart attack.
Re: Is anyone else on the board a hypochondriac????
I agree with the other posters.
I believe that most, not all, but most people with panic/anxiety disorder have a little bit of hypochondriac in them...I know I sure did.
Re: Is anyone else on the board a hypochondriac????
Yes, I would say I'm a hypochondriac. Or at least I used to be before my meds really started helping me. It also helped to have both thorough metabolic and cardiac exams and a chest x-ray. But I still have my moments. The funny thing is when I actually AM sick..like if I have a sinus infection and I have a fever, I feel almost totally relaxed and worry-free!
Re: Is anyone else on the board a hypochondriac????
Yes I am a hypochondriac too and it usually gets worse when my anxiety is bad as you would expect. THere is an excellent book I read that helped me alot with this. {REMOVED} I can highly recommend it.
Blessed be

Re: Is anyone else on the board a hypochondriac????
I dont believe in hypochondrism. A person reads about health issues because he is sick not the other way around. A sick person assumes they have each and every disease in the world because they are so desperatly trying to correlate thier symptoms to something. A person complains of illness 24 hrs because of the dr's trying to convince them they are not sick causes anxiety which in turn affects the adrenal glands, screws up the hormones and causes more symptoms. A hypochondric is a sick person who hasnt been abused by the medical world enough yet to know they cant be trusted.
