Anxiety vs Hypochondria?

What causes what? Ive got both yet no idea which is causing the other. Can anyone relate to this feeling of constant health worries, or causing health damage to yourself daily by feeling bad or not living "right" in your own mind? Thanks.

Re: Anxiety vs Hypochondria?

I would say that the hypochondria is triggering your anxiety. If you are constantly worrying about having different sicknesses/diseases etc then that would cause some degree of anxiety about wondering if you have these things or not. If you speak to your physician about this, he/she can suggest a medication that may help calm down the anxiety.

Re: Anxiety vs Hypochondria?

Thanks for replying. I think I worry of health & when I feel nervous, I get panicky, thus feeling even more worried about my heart. But I can't break this cycle, unless I use meds like ativan, yet don't want drugs daily to chill me out. Thanks.

Re: Anxiety vs Hypochondria?

I have the same thing, although, I do have some actual medical problems that I have to deal with daily. I'm just not sure which ones are anxiety related. I had my second appointment with a psychiatrist yesterday. I will continue in therapy with him and I just went on Pristque. I think it's for anxiety and depression. Just because you may need the meds for awhile, doesn't mean you have to take them forever. I knew it was past time for me to get some relief. I'll post as to how it goes. I have read mainly good comments about this medication online.
