5 hour OGTT question

OK so I have been dealing with hypo symptoms for quite a while and finally my Dr agreed to order a 5 hour glucose tolerance test and I received the results of that today. I am a little confused about the results and thought I would post here and see if anybody may have any insight or suggestions. I was checking on my meter at each hour right after they did the blood draw and my results were Way different from the blood draw results.

My meter- 113 fasting, 224 1 hour, 143 2 hour, 95 3 hour, 78 4 hour...testing stopped due to hypo symptoms

Lab result-113 fasting, 137 1 hour, 87 2 hour, 62 3 hour, 70 4 hour.....when tested at 4 hour on the office meter my blood glucose was 65 so they stopped the test and gave me glucose tabs to get it back up.

My question is this can a home meter really differ that much from lab testing and would I truely be considered hypo as those values do not seem extremely low to me according to there results. I am kinda freaking out a bit over the difference in values and was just wondering if anybody might have any insight as to the results.

Re: 5 hour OGTT question

I don't have an answer for the meter vs lab results, but one thing seems obvious - you do have a metabolic issue.

I'm not an expert at all, just discovering things about reactive hypoglycemia and diabetes.

From what I've read so far, I might conclude that your fasting 113 is not so good. The lab results and your symptoms show reactive hypo. Your meter results show a problem, too, as your 1 hour went too high for a healthy person. Ideally, it should be no more than 140.

I see you've posted in September. How are you doing now?
