| OGTT and Insulin within norm limits with hypoglycemia?
I have been having hypoglycemic episodes for a bit now after I eat, not all the time, but enough to scare me after I tested with a friends meter and it showed 70 and then 5 minutes later it dropped to 50. After that I went to the doctor who referred me to an endocrinologist, she ordered a 3 hour OGTT test.
Got my test result back today:
Fasting result Norm Range
Glucose 0 hr 83 65 - 100 mg/dL
Insulin 14.3 1 - 24 uU/mL
After 75 ML of Glucose
result Norm Range
Glucose 1 hr 138 40 - 200 mg/dL
Glucose 2 hr 128 40 - 140 mg/dL
Glucose 3 hr 73 65 - 110 mg/dL
Here is my problem, she said that I have high insulin and am reactive hypoglycemic and put me on 2000 mg of Metformin (2 500 mg twice a day). According these test results, they look normal, even my insulin, what am I missing? I did have a fasting insulin in August that was 6, after my doctor ordered a complete blood workup for my yearly physical. I only started getting episodes after August. Does anyone see something I am not?
