I would like to ask a question to anyone who has had just there uterus removed, and kept there ovaries. After your surgery did you go threw surgical menopause? I was recently informed that sometimes this can happen even after a woman keeps her ovaries. I was told and under the impression this couldn't happen. I have also heard that rapid aging will happen after a hysterectomy. Is that true?

I had my uterus removed during a c-section in the birth of my second child in Jan. I didnt have any surgical menopause, and no rapid aging-other than would occur running after 2 kids. I do have hot flashes, and my pms symptoms like moodiness, chocolate cravings, etc are more noticeable than before.

I had full uterus (inc cervix) removed April this year but kept ovaries. I had already started getting peri-menopausal symptoms and kind of expected my ovaries to fail on me after the surgery as I was warned that this can happen. Also that your ovaries are likely to fail within 5 years but so far so good. I still feel a little discomfort (not proper pain) during ovulation but this is about once every 6 weeks. I also find that my body temp is warmer especially at night but not especially worrying. My cravings for fresh bread and chocolate seem to have gone too. Rapid aging does not occur by simply having a total or sub tot hyst, however by removing ovaries, you are at a greater risk of decreasing your bone density which is associated with old-age so that may be where the comments come from ?

I have heard of losing bone mass after a total hyst, but that wasn't what I meant. I have been told and read that after a total hyst rapid aging happens. Wrinkles, thin skin, age spots etc. That is what I was referring too. But I have never really got the full details of what happens if one keeps there ovaries.
