feeling out of control.

I had a partial hyst in octber. Felt great with the whole healing process and feeling completely healed except the fact that I totaly lost it this weekend. I was sobbing one minute and screaming the next and then sweet as pie the next. My family probably cant stand me right now, but are to afraid to say so!!!! I had only one overy and my uterus removed. I now have hot falshes that are out of control and these horrable mood swings. I'm 32 and trying to decide if I should go on some estrogen has anyone been like this after a partial and do you have to stay on estrogen for along time? Could this be my body trying to start menopause? Help please if you have answers!!!
PS I could sleep the whole day away and not even care.(so exhausted!!) JEN

Re: feeling out of control.

Having a hyst is a shock to your system and will take time to level out. I had the same problems you are when I had only the uterus removed. Your hormones go swinging here and there. I did eventually take Premarin and was on it for 27 years. They now say not to take estrogen long term, but, you may need something to get you over the hump.

Re: feeling out of control.

Sorry to hear about your raging hormones Jennifer. I had a radical hysterectomy 1 year ago and boy some of the things you are talking about sure hit home with me. About a month after my surgery, I too started going through a depression. I slept about 3 hours a day, lost 17 pounds in 2 weeks because I could not eat and cried ALL the time for no reason and was angry most of the time. I take estrogen now and anti-depressants and highly recommend both. I kind of figured that life was too short to live it in the mental shape I was in. Just to let you know, some of the depression is coming back a bit and I think it has something to do with my anniversary date coming up on Saturday and my visit to the oncologist on Thursday.
Good luck Jennifer and seriously consider the hormone replacements and anti-depressants. Lofer

Re: feeling out of control.

I had a complete hysto March 1 and imediately had meno symptoms. Was put on climara patch and doing much better.Although I still have occasional hot flashes and mood swings I'm far worse without it.There are good days and bad days but the hormones definately help.I've been told that surgical meno is usually treated for 5 years with hormones but not sure though.I guess it depends on age and person.I'm 30.I also take lexapro for depression. When I started it with the patch noticed a big difference in moods.I feel better when on it as well.Having such a change to your life alone can cause emotional issues but hormones can be a real pain.
