post hysterectomy bleeding

I had a hysterectomy (uterus only) on Feb 8th. I am doing great, back to normal. It was a surprisingly quick recovery. I was back to full workouts in 4 weeks.
My only issue is that I am getting breakthrough bleeding. This is about when I would have gotten my period. It happened last month too.

Can I be ignorant? How can I be bleeding when I have no uterus. I have no pain, just bleeding. It's not a lot but I have to wear a panty shield.

To be honest I thought when I had the hysterectomy (fibroid tumors) this would all be over. I had been living witht he breakthrough bleeding for years.

I will call my doctor on Monday but wondering if anyone has any insight into this.

Thanks for your help.
Lori

Re: post hysterectomy bleeding

Hi Lori,

Did you have your cervix removed? If you still have your cervix you can still have bleeding, mostly the light spotting that you describe. Call your Dr and let us know what he says.

Re: post hysterectomy bleeding

Thanks for the info I do still have my Cervix, I have everything but the uterus. I will call my doctor tomorrow.

I have to say I feel rather ignorant about all of this. I just assumed that there would be no more "bleeding" once they removed my damned uterus.

I was looking forward to never having to wear a panty shield again.
Again thank you.

I will post tomorrow after I talk with my doctor.
