| Re: polps-should I have a hysterectomy?
Well, I can certainly understand your situation as it is much the same as mine. I've had two D&C's, and within a year of my last one, developed a very large polyp all over again.
Being that as it may, I also have some very large fibroids, one the size of a tennis ball last I knew.
So even though I'm 51, I really don't have any symptoms of menopause other than an occasional night sweat (and those are few and far between so to speak) that I decided to go ahead with the hysterectomy.
I'm scheduled for two weeks from now and am SO ready for this part of my life to be over. I'm generally stuck at home for several days a month due to the heavy bleeding and I want to get my life back again.
You may want to look into getting an endometrial ablation first before doing something as drastic as hysterectomy. I would have had except my uterus was much too enlarged to have it done.
Weigh all your options first though, and don't make a hasty decision. It's taken me about five years to finally give in and do it, but I know I've exhausted all options. Best of luck in whatever you decide, but take your time and do some research.
