Severe Hot Flashes

I am 59 years old and was in menopause for about 1 year before I had a total hysterectomy on 9/6. I had experienced hot flashes before the surgery, but now the hot flashes have turned into fire flashes and are greatly affecting my quality of life. I do not want to take hormones because of my history of tumors. I was also told that soy and black cohorsh also promote tumor growth. I wake up every 45 minutes with these flashes at night. By morning I am exhausted. Do any of you have any suggestions for dealing with these hot (fire) flashes that doesn't warrant the taking of hormones?
