I think my wife has turned into the devil

She had a partial Hyterectomy a year ago last November, so 1 year and 2 months ago. Her sex drive was pretty good before the surgery, but now.....nothing, zilch, nada. Her mood swings are terrible, she can be happy go luck one minute and the devil the next. Even the kids are coming to me and asking "what is up with her?". About 6 month after her surgery I asked her to have her hormones checked, she did and said that everything come back normal. I dunno. Recently it has been getting worse and worse. She has another appt with the Dr. that done the surgery, after I asked her again to get something checked and that I cannot live like this any longer.

My question is, can this be hormones or can this be something else?

Re: I think my wife has turned into the devil

If she only had a partial then I suspect there is something else going on...if they didn't take her ovaries then she should be fine as far as hormones go. I guess you need to know what exactly they partially removed? What does she say about her new attitude?
But if doctors are saying all is well then maybe she needs to have her thyroid checked to be sure it is ok. The thyroid is the powerhouse of the body so maybe it is messed up.

They removed her uterus but left everything else, she had bleeding and suspected endometrosis, but after lab tests that was ruled out. But the bleeding stopped so I guess all is good in that respect. I agree with the ovaries still there she should be ok as far as hormones go....but something is definitely wrong. I agree the thyroid, but is seemed to be right after she had the surgery that everything started going wacky with her. And her take on the additude, Is she does not have an attitude.

Re: I think my wife has turned into the devil

Hi
I had a TAH and was warned prior to surgery that even though they were leaving my ovaries behind (1 was 42 at the time), the ovaries would probably start to shut down within 5 years and I would go into menopause. for some women, this happens sooner rather than later.

I would suggest that you make a note of dates of moodswings. If there is an obvious cyclical pattern then it is possibly due to hormones or PMT. Even though there is no bleeding, ovaries still produce an egg each month which is then absorbed back into the body. She can still develop pmt post surgery if she has her ovaries.

regards
ktee

Re: I think my wife has turned into the devil

She is going to see the Dr. Wednesday afternoon. So hopefully he can fix whatever is going wrong. I was expecting some mood swings after the surgery, but this is more of a daily ordeal, not something that is twice a week.

Thanks for the comments.
