question -- hysterectomy? (not me) - Hysterectomy Message Board

My friend has had a problem with a period that won't end for over, I think, a couple of years now. I think she's been on the pill, all sorts of of procedures, but it hasn't helped, and her anemia is ongoing. I got an email from her saying she's so sick of it she's going to go for a hysterectomy. A doctor suggested it more than a year ago and it scared her to do something that drastic. But now she's so beaten down by the anemia that she's willing to go for it. She is, I think 40, and has never had a child.

Anyone had an experience with it and what would you advise her (in general)?

I have heard that if you have an ablation, you can do a repeat procedure to get more cells removed if it was unsuccessful the first time. Has she had this procedure more than once? Then if that doesn't work it is recommended to have the hysterectomy. Good luck to your friend. FLFLOWERGIRL
