| | HPV Test- If you've had a Hysterectomy/Cervix removed?
I was just offered the new test for women (I think the nurse said over 35) for high-risk HPV. After informing her I'd already had a Hyst. (not prompted by any HPV related disease), so no more cervix, she said I didn't need it. My daughter now has High-risk VIN in her vulvar. After all the research on that I've found on High-Risk HPV causing cancer in other parts of the body/genitals, not just the cervix, should older women like me know if they have H-R HPV? I'm married 26 years so sexual contact isn't an issue, so is there a reason to get tested- would they be watching you differently for other things (no reason if you have no symptoms?)? Can they test without a cervic (Can they swab the vagina/anus, scrape cells from vulvar? I've read that they do test anus on gay men, so there must be a reason/test.)?
