I had my LSH three weeks ago and wanted to help some of you out with some advise on the scars....and how to GET RID OF THEM!!!!
First of all immediatly after you get home and start tending to your own incisions cover them in neosporin or (I used) Vaseline. By doing this you keep the wound moist and that is better for healing...you don;t want to dry it out.
After my stitches were taken out a week after surgery I bought a product called MEDERMA on the advise of my sister who is a nurse. You apply it to the scar area 4 or 5 times a day for 8 weeks and it help to eleviate any scarring that may occur. YES, it works!!! The incision on my lower right and the belly button incision are virtually GONE...the larger incision on the lower left was a little infected after I got the stitches out (plus one of my stitches broke the second day out of surgery and it sort of opened the incision up and I believe thats why there was a bit of infection.....nothing a little neosporin didn't help) anyway I can now use the Maderma on that scar too and it seems to be clearing up. The product is about $25.00 for a tiny tube but that tube should last 6 to 8 weeks if you use it sparingly...you dont need much on the tiny scars. This product claims to also help with existing old scars but you would need to use it alot longer (6 to 8 months) and I have no experience with that so you are on your own.
I HOPE THIS HELPS OUT SOME OF YOU!!!!! BIKINI SEASONS IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!!!!!
