Fibroids and Pain in Navel

About to have a hysterectomy due to large fibroids. However, I am having pain in my belly button and gynocologist says it has nothing to do with the fibroids. Told it is not a hernia either. Have any of you experienced pain in the navel before hysterectomy?

Re: Fibroids and Pain in Navel

The pain not be directly from the fibroid, but it is entirely possible that the fibroid is pushing on a nerve that goes to the navel. I believe there are many symptoms that can be caused (directly or indirectly) from large fibroids.

How large is your fibroid?

Re: Fibroids and Pain in Navel

Thanks for your reply. I wrote this on behalf of my friend, Kiev. she said her fibroids are 10 X 8. she also has polyups. She is in her 60's and will have her uterus removed along with the fibroids and polyups. The Dr. will probably leave her ovaries and cervix. I thought at that age the Dr. would op to remove all.

Re: Fibroids and Pain in Navel

Ah. I see. The ovaries and cervix continue producing very low levels of hormones even after menopause. Besides, some people believe in leaving healthy organs. I fall into that camp.

I was diagnosed with cervical cancer (Ia1) last year and only had my cervix and uterus removed. I figured I'd like to hobble along on the intermittent doses of hormones my ovaries spit out each month!

I wish your friend well with her hysterectomy!
