I'm 44 and just recently realized that the removal of my uterus 10 yrs. ago could be the reason for a lot if not all of my health problems and concerns. I have my ovaries, but have no idea if they are still functioning at all or not...I read that following the hysterectomy, they probably quit functioning within 1-2 yrs....would this explain why I haven't had any signs of ovulation for yrs. now, when I almost always had painful ovulation and sore/cystic breasts? I would love to find more women who have had a partial hysterectomy and compare notes, because I'm having a hard time getting especially good info. I find that my situation is not addressed enough in the books I'm reading. They mainly deal with total hysterectomy and "normal" menopause situations. I feel that it so hard for me to get a firm diagnosis of peri-menopause because of my lack of periods...the doctors don't know what to do with me. I need to have your input if this is you, too, and help to understand if this is truly what is going on with me. To summarize my "symptoms", I've had: occasional night sweats, depression, unbearable anxiety (off and on), some acne, headaches (becoming more frequent), digestive disturbances, irritability, inability to concentrate, dry and painful eyes (since Dec. of this year), heart palpitations and loss of sexual desire, which has been very difficult, as it leaves me feeling like an empty shell. This is NOT ME! I want to understand it so I can start living again. (Just about the only symptom I don't seem to have is weight gain. Would that mean I'm NOT in peri-menopause?)
