Had DaVinci- Now Rectocele & Other Prolapse?

Hi,
Im new to this area of the Forum.
This postwill be full of TMI!
I had a DaVinci 5 weeks ago. (Vag. Assist) 1 week after I could not have a bm. I thought I was constipated...But had been taking plenty of stool softeners & fiber & water. My stools were soft. One day after trying to go & peeing...I noticed a bulge when wiping.
I had no idea what a rectocele was before that!
I went back to see my obgyn/Surgeon & he said he could not see or feel anything wrong. Well my Bowel was completely empty at the time. I have no doubts I have a rectocele : (
Those that have one know how I am able to go right now.

My Other concern is My Urethra. Sometimes after peeing It hurts. Especially in the middle of the night if I go after a very full bladder. I am also going more then I did before my surgery.
I looked & I can see my urethra alot! it takes up halve of my vaginal opening. I dont recall that before. But I dont know.
Does anyone know if this is normal- to be able to see your urethra? Im having a hard time finding the answer to that.
Im worried I may have a prolapse of that too.

I can not find a Urogyno near me.
I have found a Uro that deals with womens problems.

Should I start there?
Or should I see a gastroentologist 1st?
TIA

Re: Had DaVinci- Now Rectocele & Other Prolapse?

I'm sorry to hear you are having those problems! If I were you, I'd start with the Uro who specializes in women's problems since you don't have a urogyn.

I didn't have a DaVinci, but I had an LAVH. I know that I had some bowel and bladder problems for a few weeks after my hyst. I think my uterus was fairly large so everything (labia, vulva, etc) was stretched and stressed a bit for her to "deliver" (my word, not hers ) my uterus. I was so swollen that it hurt to sit for more than 5 minutes the first few days out of the hospital. At 1 week I could sit for about 45 minutes without a problem. After 2 weeks I was fine, unless it was a very firm chair.

That may be the bladder problem you are having. But the bowel problems, I don't know. I wish I couuld give you some information, but I can't.

Other than that, how are you feeling?

Re: Had DaVinci- Now Rectocele & Other Prolapse?

Thank you Pickle Eyes.
Other then the problems I am having I am doing very well.
Makes me depressed to think how good I should be doing with a good recovery from the surgery itself.

This was my 5th surgery in 15 months. I had 3 for Breast cancer- including a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction- the reconstruction was messed up. I need to have that fixed. But need a specialist to do that- which I am still looking for.

I also had a hole in my heart that was repaired.
I am really sick of surgery & the thought of more. Really upsets me.
I am thinking/hoping that my Bladder & all is still recovering too. Mine was actually a vag assist. But he could not get my large uterus out that way- although he tried (so still swelling & all) He ended up cutting it all up & taking it out of my 'belly Button' incision.

I did make an appt today to see the Uro I found. I can not get in til mid Sept.

Thank you for your reply.

Re: Had DaVinci- Now Rectocele & Other Prolapse?

Wow! You've really been through a lot.

I had a medically stressful year last year, too. I was put under anesthesia 5 times in 6 months. I guess technically, they were all surgeries, but 2 of them were twilight-type sleep. It was rough. Really rough.

I hope you feel better soon and I hope mid-Sept gets here quickly so you can get some answers!
