Exclamation New here , Had a Di Vinci Hysterectomy on 8-19-10..questions??

Hi all , My name is Veronica , I am 32 and just had a di vinci laproscopic hysterectomy..I am 16 days out now and have some questions for anyone who had one..I had some vaginal bleeding (very light) for about the first 2 days then it stopped...I then on the 7th day went to lunch with my Grandma to get out of the house because I was going stir crazy...Anyway as of that day I started spotting again and have been on and off on a daily basis..Its not enough to really even need a pantie liner , It's just there when I wipe..Did any of you have this and what caused it?? I am also having a rough time with pressure "down there" with some slight cramping , is this normal? I went ahead and made an appt. with my GYN in the morning to be evaluated but wanted to know if anyone was experiencing the same issues..

Hi Veronica, I am 5 weeks post op. I had bleeding afterwards and had to wear a pad. Geez, I hadn't had those in years.....The bleeding would let up until I was more active and then it would increase again. I wasn't too concerned because it was expected and was told as long as I didn't soak through a pad in an hour it was normal. About 10 days ago it just stopped completely. Yes, I do get cramping now and then and I get little sharp pains here and there. I did end up with a bladder infection.

Thanks for the Reply Mel!!! I went to the doc today and he said that everything was fine..He took a look and said it was a stitch at the incision at the top of the vagina stretching and it was fine..THANK GOD! He checked for a UTI , so far , so good! It was very reassuring!
My bleeding is pretty light , I was just a bit worried as it was bright red..I am hoping it stops soon!

Oh good, glad everything is fine. Mine was bright red too. I see the surgeon tomorrow for my check-up. I still have two stitches that did not dissolve.

It went well. I still have a stitch in my stomach and on my side and thought the doc would remove them but he said no they will disolved around the 8th-9th week. He said I have purple stitches inside so don't panic if I see purple.
This surprised me. He said at 3 months I will be 80% healed and 100% in one year. Wow. long time.

A YEAR?? Wow! That IS a long time! Then again 80% is pretty good , So I will take that..It will be better than I was before I had it.. I am glad you are doing well! I have heard so many horror stories that it's reassuring when someone is doing so good..I did have a question for you..I have the port holes , My belly button is healing great..I had one of my steri strips come off last night and have 2 more to go...Did you have stitches?? Some do and some don't..I don't...

Re: New here , Had a Di Vinci Hysterectomy on 8-19-10..questions??

I know, I was surprised at a year for complete healing too. I had the two holes on each side of my belly button. One strip came off pretty quickly, the other one I pulled off about 10 days. I still have one stitch there and one at my belly button. I thought the dr would remove them as historically I have never had stitches in longer than 14 days. He said they should disolve around the 8th or 9th week.
I am really pleased and suprised I did so well. I have had a lot of surgeries and sometimes am slow to recover. This time, it's amazing. I said to the dr yesterday, because he too expected me to be more fatigued etc, I feel so good because I felt so terrible for the last two years. I do get some soreness that comes and goes at times. A little stabbing feeling, but that is nothing compared to before. I truly thought I was having appendix problems. However, when removed the appendix was normal

Yeah , I have had quite a few surgeries myself and I heal really well , I am feeling pretty good , I am mostly doing what I want to , just not lifting anything heavy...I still have some soreness and I to have weird twinges that catch me off guard..lol I am ready to be healed and move on with life...I will take what I have though because like you I feel WAY better than I did before the surgery!!
