Question Should I have a full blown Hysterectomy or not 44 year old....

I went to a new obgyn and he know I had surgery two years ago for fibroids and endro. Clean the pipes as he called it (MY OLD OBGYN) but did not suggest anything else.

Well the pain is coming back and so if the fatigue that time of the month. My new OBGYN want to do a complete and I mean a complete Hysterectomy on me, but I want to at least leave my ovaries or just one..........why take out everything? I am scared to death............I have also been given a low dose of Lexapro for the anxiety and depression that I am having.

I can't talk to my mother like I would want to for she is having heath issues and don't want to worry her, but the pain and fatigue has got to goooooo..........I can't live like this..........I don't have a job at the moment but soon hope to be back in the work force........so I need to know what your opinion is on this.....this is very serious for me, I can only take so many alieves and so on......I just feel like crap.......please help...........after a few days, I am OK, I did start back up on a OTC low dose Iron pill for I am anemic too..........Prozac is not a option for me, been there and will not go back.............

Hugs and can't wait to hear what you have to say............thank you so much..............should I have this at my age, and will I feel better after the surgery, I know many younger people have had this with great success, but worried........like always.

Thanks for listening.............

Sorry, my main fear in having to take hormones, and I am not ready for that! If that was the only option, what about Birth Control? Which I HATE THAT IDEA too......

Hopefully someone will get with me.............I have to weigh my options.... SOON!

Hormones are birth control pills in actuality so it's all the same. You might try them and see if it helps. If not, go ahead and have the hysterectomy...why not at our ages???? And you can try to gut it out afterwards without HRT but it's hard for some folks. In fact, I wouldn't be without mine!

No - am on HRT - generic Activella. However, when I first started with peri symptoms, my gyno changed my BCP and did so several times over the years. Eventually at age 57 I decided I had had enough and didn't want any more periods so she put me on HRT - not another period and I'm 65 now.

Have you tried birth control pills? I'd at least give it a shot. If it helps, great; if not, then go for the hysterectomy.

But you don't even know if you'll have any. Try it - if you don't like it, quit. There is no need to taper off bcp. You just stop them.

Well, I never experienced any side effects in the 30 plus years I was on them nor have I on HRT. Maybe you won't either.

Re: Should I have a full blown Hysterectomy or not 44 year old....

I know so many women who've had hysterectomies thinking it would solve their health problems....and then things got worse. A co-worker's urethra was cut during the operation and she leaked urine constantly afterward, another woman's hormone imbalance became so much worse after the operation that she was fired from her job and got herself committed to a mental institution...
I'm 58 and have all my "parts" even though I had one of the worst menopauses I've heard of. For two months I was hemorraging daily from my uterus. Everyone, myself included, thought I would die. My children were begging me to get a hysterectomy. Chinese herbs stopped the bleeding. I then found herbs and diet to balance my hormones.
Now I feel great, have an exciting sex life and look like I'm 40. A woman's womb is her connection to the Creativity of the Universe. Dear sisters, there are others ways to heal ourselves besides having our womb cut out!

Re: Should I have a full blown Hysterectomy or not 44 year old....

I agree, but sometimes the pain takes over............Why do doctors want to just go in and take everything? My obgyn only spent 15 minutes tops and I was a new patience......................and said you should have a total Hysterectomy............I cried all the way home. I fill fight this to the end......but it is your body and I agree..........why take everything out?
