Question 25yr old going thru rectocele & pelvic prolapse

Hello! So I am 25yrs old and have 2 children and since their births I have noticed a slight cervix prolapse and a rectocele. Since I have no insurance I finally dragged myself to my OBGYN who did my exam laying down and said that it is nothing to major right now but I may want to consider a hysterectomy down the road if things get worse. Since then I have kind of been freaking out. My cervix is about 1.5 to 2 inches in when I put my fingers in my vagina and it totally freaks me out. I cant have sex certain ways b/c it feels like my husband hits it. Then theres my rectocele that makes me have to push on myself to do every bowl movement. To me this all seems severe but my OBGYN seems to think things don't "look" that bad.

Should he have done the exam with me in a diff position? When I look w/a mirror down there I def see a buldge from my rectocele and although I cant see my cervix it is really close when I touch it... I am so confused right now on what to do or if I should even be stressing out. I just feel too young to be going through this. Also my tubes are tied and I dont want anymore children, but I have read doing a hysterectomy may make me have more prolapsing down the road and more surgeries from a loose vaginal wall. Can anyone give me any advice on this all as I am very overwhelmed.
Thank you

Re: 25yr old going thru rectocele & pelvic prolapse

Sorry you have been having problems. I am 5 days post surgery for a rectocele, a midurethral sling and a sphincteroplasty. So far so good. The surgery went well and I was able to leave the hospital without a catheter. I went to a urogynegologist for the rectocele and she recommended me to a colorectal surgeon for the sphincter problem. Both are Board Certified. My recommendation for you is to find another doctor if you haven't already, that is a specialist in pelvic health. You need another opinion.
I was told that the sphincteroplasty might only last about 10 years. I'm hoping that I will be the exception! Am hoping that once I'm healed and keep doing kegels that I will strengthen the muscles. I never did kegels before this. Ladies, keep doing Kegels.
I think my hysterectomy 3 years ago (I kept my ovaries) was a major factor in my pelvic organs prolapsing, but how do I know that for sure?
Am pretty sure that the birth of my 8 lb 2 oz first child 26 years ago which required forceps, is the reason for all the tearing in my sphincter. It has taken me this long to finally give up and look for help.
Good Luck. Hope things are sorting themselves out for you.

Re: 25yr old going thru rectocele & pelvic prolapse

Hi. I feel your pain right now... I know this was posted a while back, but was wondering if you have had any resolve to the problem? I'm 28, have had 3 vaginal births, and recently learned I have rectocele as well. I was terrified when I first started noticing the issues, but now I know it's more common in women then we know. *most don't want to admit* So, Where we go from here is the big question. Surgery or not? I'd love to talk with you about what you've decided and if you've had any help. I hope you get my reply soon. Thanks!
Laura
