CRP blood tests

Hi

I recently had all my blood tests done again because i'm not feeling very well ...bad lungs, exhaustion etc. The doctor said that my CRP bloods came back at 145, but he doesn't know why yet....

How high is 145?

Thanks for any advice xx

Did he say 145? or 1.45. Mine have been elevated for yrs due to my prosthesis and possible low grade infection. The highest mine has been is 5.75 which got my ortho pretty excited{not really}. Some labs see anything over say 1 as high and some say 5 or over is high.

I had bloodwork done last week for RA (diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago). My CRP level came back at 12, with lab values showing 'normal' to be <6.

I also have a strange ANA reading (not in the usual titre reading I'm used to).

I have an appt with my GP tomorrow, and my Rheumy in 3 weeks. I'm going to ask my GP tomorrow, though - what exactly these results mean.

Re: CRP blood tests

C Reactive Proteins should be about 1 or less. (At least this is reasearch I've done) , but in reading, it seems like I came up on info that said a CRP of less than 10 was acceptable (in other words, the physican might not get too excited about it although they may order further testing).
It measures inflammation in the body but it can not tell where that inflammation is or what it is from.
CRP will rise sharply with disease (sometimes rising before other symptoms show) and will drop sharply when the issue is resolved. Another test measuring inflammation is a Sed Rate but these values are slower to rise and fall.

It has a very good description of CRP or C-Reactive Protein.
