Rheumatologists

Is it just me or do alot of rheumatologists just seem like strange people. The ones I've have seen are all "busy don't have time for this" kind of doctors. I just absolutely deplore going to one. No bedside manner what so ever and no cocern for any possible side effects of med that a patient could have to contend with. Ugh!! The one that I have been referred to lately just runs in to the room, waves his hands, acts impatient asking questions and actually tells me to hurry up and answer while I'm trying to remember how many times and how often a particular symptom has affected me. "Well, I don't believe there is anything wrong with you that I can help". Are they trained to say that in school? Just a bit of venting. I must call his office soon and reschedule an appointment. It is just so tempting to just cancel it and forget it.

Re: Rheumatologists

clc
Cancel and find a new rheumatologist. Your paying him for that time. No one needs that treatment
Try someone new that takes some time with you. A rheumy appt. should be thorough. You deserve better!

Re: Rheumatologists

Oh tell me about it! Ive seen two rheumys in my lifeand they were both nasty experiences. The first one squeezed a badly swollen joint until I actually had to vomit from the pain, then he ignored everything I said, took more xrays of just my right knee, discharged me and sent me to my 5th physiotherapist who said again that physio couldnt help!
The second one I got about 20 mins with, half of that outside because he had to make a phonecall to someone else! He did the same tests yet again, same xrays and then discharged me with the standard 'Theres nothing here that I can help you with' line. He just told me to go get on with my life.
I gave up on joint docs right then!

Re: Rheumatologists

Same treatment here too. The rheumy I saw in TN and the one in AZ both have told me the same thing. I have been diagnosised with several autoimmune diseases, but told by both "there is nothing I can do for you" and "you will have to learn to ignore the pain". I think they get the same education as neurologists and peopel that work at the MVD as they all have treated me the same.
