4 years ago I had a subtotal thyroidectomy. 9 days after that 1/2 my body went numb. I have been tested like a lab rat and no one can find the cause, it seems that there is some inflamation on my brain. Here's the kicker, right before my period every month it gets worse (numbness) then it tapers off and the numbness is virtually gone. I have stumped neurologists, endocrinologists, doctors of all kinds. But there has to be someone out there that has had this happen to them.
I really think that it is tied into my thyroid, somehow. I have hashimoto's and the gland that they extracted was a multi-nodule goitre.
Hi there
A goiter is an enlarged thyroid. How much of your thyroid gland did they remove?
Have you tried posting on the Thyroid board here? The people there are pretty knowledgeable about the thyroid, and the many things it can do to your body.
They also offer a lot of support there.
Any comments will be grately appreciated! I can give you more info if needed, it's just that I've posted for a couple of years to no avail.
Thanks!
If you do decide to post to the Thyroid board, you might want to post your latest thyroid lab results, along with the lab ranges.
The tests you should have had done would be:
Free T3
Free T4
Antibodies
TSH
Good luck, and I hope someone can help you with some info soon.
HUGS
