Hi, i have been ANA positive, antinuclear antibody positive, for a few years now, they ran lupus and a ton of other tests but they are all negative. Should i be worried that i am positive or is this just something that some people are with no other problems. I actually have alot of joint pain and my knuckles are getting very large but all the tests were negative for joint diseases

I have tested positive for ANA and also have joint pain which is related to osteo-arthritis. My osteo-arthritis is directly related to my Crohns Disease which I have had for many years. Have they done any auto-immune disease testing other than Lupis?

Hi. I have positive ANA and I have autoimmune hepatitis. Also I have joint pains. My anti smooth muscle antibody is also positive (ASMA) and my liver enzymes are elevated. It might be worth asking for the ASMA test...

Yorkielover, there's a criteria for getting an "offical" diagnosis of Lupus. One part of that is the positive ANA. If you go to the Lupus board section of the boards here there are "sticky posts" at the top that talk about the criteria. It might be worth taking a look.

I have also been tested and it came back ANA positive, antinuclear antibody positive. About 12 - years ago, My doctor told me that I had Lupus. At the same time, I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid, I then started taking medication for that. I went around telling everyone that I had Lupus, until I had to have an emergency gallbladder removal. While doing the surgery, the doctor did a biopsy of my liver. The biopsy results came back that I had cirrhosis. I'm not a alcoholic drinker and was quite shocked, due to not be educated about Cirrhosis. I went to a specialist at Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville, TN. He told me that I didn't have Lupus, I had a thyroid immune liver disease. So, please keep this in mind. I don't know if this helps any, but the little ol' thyroid can cause some really rough problems.
