Kindspirit-Hi, I think I have seen you at the thyroid board as well. I just thought I would pipe up with my experience. I have hypothyroid due to hashimoto's and my tpo antibodies were over2,000 at diagnosis, then went to 1200 , not sure where now but will be tested soon again. Suffice it to say my tpo antibodies are really high-I have seen only a few people on the thyroid board with higher antibodies and only a few with similar high antibodies. YET, my recent ANA lab result was .7 , less than .7 was the lab reference range. Also it said connective tissue disease unlikely when ANA is less than 1.0.The reason I responded to your inquiry was that I wanted to let you know that someone with hashimoto's with really high antibodies(tpo) could have a low/weak positive ANA..So hashimoto's and high ANA aren't always going to occur together.
Isn't it odd how lab ref. ranges are written so differently because at my lab less than 0.7 is indicated as ref range. And my result was 0.7 . Your lab seems to have moved the decimal point though with their 7.5 ref range.
My rheum was unconcerned about the weak positive. Not sure if that was right or wrong, though for a variety of reasons not returning to her for treatment.
