Hi, I understand there is a Dr Hughes who specializes in Lupus and autoimmune disorders in England and was wondering how to get referred. I was also wondering what it is, if anything, that he does which would be different than a Canadian Doctor. I have read so many articles and posts about what an amazing Doctor he is, I guess I was hoping he would have some answers for me, and maybe some relief, Thanks for any information you could pass along, Barb

osed me at one point with sero negative lupus and aps. however very dangerous ground as people wont necessarily listen to his diagnosis. and if you had problems on the medication youron for it in the beginning then its dificult. i was yes no yes no. now they tthink maybe yes but not under him as private cant follow you up. he can diagnose you maybe but if you had tests already... i dunno you really need some nearee to home because if it goes wrong you cant go flying back to englnad. hes a nice doctor though and tried to help me a lot. thing is you need follow up care and how will this happen over the atlantic im trying to be practical as possible. hes good as well at trying to find out whats wrong. there must be a dotor closer to home i dont even see hughes and i live in london cause the kind of tests i needded could not be done in a private hospital and lupus is his main interest. i was his most complicated case ever how about that. maybe i will go back to see him. there are other disease like lupus that dont show up lupus positive bu can be similar maybe you should not narrow your field. my friend had lupud symptons but she ended up having polymyotosis. things have gone so wrong with me i need a real expert dont know who though. goodluck let me know what youthink i dont want to disenhearten you.

Hi Thanks for your reply. I guess a Dr. in London is a little impractical. I want someone to say "This is what you have and this is how to fix it", so yes I am a little impractical myself. Being allergic to all the "normal" treatments doesnt exactly make you a popular patient to a rhuemy who really is only there for her paycheck. Oh how I miss my old Dr. He wasnt soft and comforting, but he was caring and treated the patient, not the lab work. Looking forward to warmer days soon, Barb
