Anyone with an immune disorder ever experience something like this? I'm waiting... - Immune Disorders Message Board

Hi

I just had some tests run a few days ago to see if I have any immune disorders, so I am currently waiting on results and trying to do some basic research. This year has been a crazy year for me and my health. I'm an 18 year old girl who has normal weight. Since October 2007...I've had (in order):

1) Strep
2) Tracheitis
3) Bronchitis
4) Strep
5) Mono
6) Bronchitis + sinus infection
7) Strep
8) some random virus w/viral exanthem
9) double ear infection
10) sinus infection
11) another virus
12) a cold/virus (currently)

Basically, I've been getting sick on average every 1-3 weeks, sometimes picking things up while still recovering from an infection with antibiotics. Anybody ever experience anything like this?? It's crazy.

When I first started getting sick with my autoimmune conditions I had a similar experience. As an 11 year old I got mono 3 times (I was told I was a carrier and kept infecting myself. I never got it form anyone), then I got pneumonia, then the flu. This case of the flu was life threatening. I had fevers of 104 for 3 weeks straight. Then I became anemic. It was the fact that I kept getting sick which prompted my doctor to run tests. Hang in there.

wow! thanks for replying. i'm so sorry you had to go through that. i didn't know it was even possible to get mono 3x! what did your doctor diagnose you with?

I've been diagnosed with several things as of right now, but I'm waiting for a new diagnosis from a neurologist currently too... over the course of the past 10 years I've been diagnosed with Enteropathic Arthritis, Ulcerative Colitis, Uveitis, Fibromyalgia, and a difficult to manage unexplained problem with my own insulin which causes a lot of severe hypoglycemia along with some high blood sugar (it MIGHT be an atypical early stage of type 1 diabetes again, autoimmune, but we aren't sure, might be prednisone induced type 2, who knows). Now I'm told I have an abnormal neurological exam, spasticity in my legs and shoulders, and hyperreflexia. I hope they figure out what's going on with you!
