Do I or do I not have an autoimmune disease?

I had a blood test done to check for autoimmune disease. The test results came back. The doctor said I tested positive for autoimmune. I wanted a second opinion. Dr. #2 says I do not have an autoimmune disease. So, do I? Or don't I???

Here are the test results:

T and B Lymph/Nat.Killer Short: normal range

IFN-Y, Serum: normal range

IL-10 Serum: High @ 15.1 (normal range is <14.4)

IL-4 (Serum): normal range

IL-6: normal range

Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha: normal range

Re: Do I or do I not have an autoimmune disease?

Well only a doctor can tell you if you have an autoimmune disease or not, you know your body better then anyone else a little background information might help us understand your situation a little better, but no one on this board can diagnose you. With that said, usually they do a test called an ANA it will tell you if you have the antibodies to a specific immune disorder. Their is also genetic mapping through blood tests where they can check for certain mutations that show up in your blood stream.

Which doctor did you like better, the first one sounded like he wanted to help but only you can make that decesion. Base it on how you feel, what prompted you to get this test done in the first place. Its not an easy yes or no answer some people with auto immune go years without knowing they have the illness while others suffer without any answers, I still don't have the blood tests that say yes or no my doctor is treating my symptoms but she does know for sure that I have Inflammatory arthritis which is like Rheumatoid arthritis and that is an autoimmune I suggest you go back to the first doctor that said you had one, and ask all kinds of questions.

Good luck to you and keep us updated.

Re: Do I or do I not have an autoimmune disease?

If you look up my name "numbcy", you'll see the many posts that I have done in the past, which can explain the symptoms I have had for the last 2-7 years, which is why I got the test done. Do my symptoms sound like autoimmune . . . or intestinal permeability?

Re: Do I or do I not have an autoimmune disease?

It sounds like maybe you have two or three different things going Stress can play a big factor causing your body to go haywire Yes I know stress isn't a disease but it can mess with your body in many different ways. I AM NOT A DOCTOR, Have you ever been tested for a seizure disorder, or any kind of bowel disorder like irritable bowel disease or even. Oh wait I did see celiac on something else you posted. Did you get tested for that? if its celiac then you must watch the gluten intake and I believe that most stores have a section where there is no gluten in any food product. You could also be dehydrated, I can't remember if it said male or female next to your name but a slight chance that maybe you might be pregnant, in any case go to a specialist called a gastroenterologist where they will investigate the matter, they have simple test they can do now, to determine things though i am not guaranteeing you will get any answers its help to start out somewhere maybe that doctor will lead you in the right direction.

Sorry I couldn't be of any help to you Also check out a neurologist for the dizziness or an ENT. Or even maybe a cardiologist because Yes you can get dizzy from something in your heart as said previously I am no doctor, I'm not giving you any advice on how to take of yourself other then giving ideas on what steps to take next I hope those suggestions help. When is the last time you had your blood checked maybe they should check your wbc=White blood Cell Count
Tells if you have infection or not usually has to be higher then 10.5 I think.

Either way I am sorry for all the pain and trauma you are going through right now and I hope things get better for you. Either way go to a doctor please. I am not one I can't stress that enough.
