Swollen lymph nodes in armpit

What would be the reason for swollen lynph nodes in the armpit? Does it automaticaly mean cancer? Or could there be a different reason?

No it doesn't automatically mean cancer, you may have an infection some where. I'd have it checked by a Doctor though. All the best.

Re: Swollen lymph nodes in armpit

Don't automatically panic. I did, and when I went to my PCP to have it checked out, she looked at it, felt it and asked me if I had changed deoderants recently. I'm looking at her with a dumb look, and thinking what does that have to do with anything. well, obviously it can clog up the ducts and make the lymph node seem swollen.

Hope this is your case too!! who would have thunk it. lol

Re: Swollen lymph nodes in armpit

Thank you all for the responses. It really helps a lot. The more I hear from other people the less anxious I feel. I'm due for a dr appt in January, but it sure helps to know that other people had similar experiences. Thank you!

Re: Swollen lymph nodes in armpit

May just be infection. I had a knot come up under my left arm and it kept getting bigger and so sore I couldn't touch it. I went to the doctor and he lanced it. It was MRSA Staph. I have eczema on my hands and they stay busted all the time and I picked up the MRSA somewhere and it entered through one of the cuts on my hands. MRSA can be cleared up with antibotics. Good luck but make sure you go to the doctor. May God Bless you.

Question Re: Swollen lymph nodes in armpit

Does anyone know if doctors can extract lymph fluid for testing if they can't visually see or feel the lump? - as in the case of overweight people. Would an immunologist do this procedure or another type of doctor?
