I am 55 and had mono when I was 15. A year ago it came back. There are mono spot tests which are blood test that will show you have had mono because the antibodies will always be there. However, there is a mono blood test that is not the mono spot that will show if you currently have it. It is kind of like the blood titer test for german measles if you had it the antibodies can be detected in your blood even though you don't currently have it.
