Ongoing painful lymph nodes

Hi everyone, I am new to the site. I am wondering whether someone can share an opinion about my problem.

For around 6 months I have had painful lymph nodes - neck, under the arms and groin. It comes and goes but lately it is there more often than not. Sometimes it feels like a sharp pinch, but more often it is a nagging ache. It's worst in the groin and often throbs when I am trying to get to sleep.

The only other symptom I have is tiredness. I don't have night sweats, or weight loss.

I've had 2 blood tests so far, full blood work and nothing abnormal has come up. I've also been tested for HIV and that was negative.

My doctor doesn't seem to know what to do next or which specialist to send me to. I know my symptoms might be consistent with lymphoma but that has other symptoms too.

It is more irritating than debilitating but I can't help but think it is not normal and wonder what is causing it.

I'm otherwise healthy except that I have endometriosis, diagnosed 3 years ago. I have some lower abdominal pain but I don't know whether that is from the endometriosis or something else.

Anyway thanks for reading

Re: Ongoing painful lymph nodes

Are your lymph nodes enlarged or just painful?

Both. I can't really tell if they are enlarged or not but the doctor said they are.

Re: Ongoing painful lymph nodes

Have you had blood tests to rule out mono and Lyme? I would request a CT Scan or ultrasound so they can actually measure the lymph nodes to see how enlarged they are.

I have the same thing going on and I was referred to an oncologist since my blood work all was normal. I am having another U/S next week to see if they have grown and if they have I think I will have to have a biopsy.

I really have no other symptoms, just pain in the enlarged axillary lymph nodes.

I do have some rib pain on the left side, but have been told that is costochondritis. I have had so many tests done- CT Scan, axillary U/S, Abdominal U/S, mammogram, and tons of blood work.

Good luck!

Smile Re: Ongoing painful lymph nodes

I would ask for an appointment with an Oncologist...I have been going through the same thing, my doctor ran every test that he could possibly think of and most came back normal! I did test positive for Epstein Bar and my iron was extremely low. I had three different CT's with contrast done which showed swollen lymph nodes in my neck and chest, they continued to grow in size so he sent me to a Oncologist. I had a lymph node biopsy done on my neck which came back negative for Lymphoma (Thank God) but reactive. I saw a different Oncologist and she had an answer the next visit! I have a B-12 deficiency, so I take injections once a week and I had a Iron Infusion (some of the worst pain I have ever felt but better after the side effects) I also was diagnosed with an Immune Deficiency IgG Subclass1, I start infusions next week. Keep pressing for answers!! You know your body and when something is wrong...
