how long for titers

Am waiting on the screening tests for vaccine titers and Ig levels for my son who has recurrent pneumonia.

how long do these take? I realize it will vary by lab, but generally how long? it's been a week and this mom is impatient.

Re: how long for titers

It could take up to 2 weeks or longer. Titre testing is not usually considered stat testing. But it really depends on the lab the testing was sent to and their policy.

I work in a lab and there are certain tests that are performed only once per week or per 2 weeks or even monthly. Wish I could be more help. Hope you get your answers.

Re: how long for titers

If they are looking at CVID (low IgG) and gave him the pneumonia vaccine challenge or DTP vaccine - they wait 3 weeks before drawing blood again to see if he mounted a response to it. If he did not and has low IgG - thats typically a CVID diagnosis.
