CVID and Bell's Palsy

I am new to this site and message board; I am happy I found it.

I have a question:

Is Bell's Palsy a complication of Common Variable Immunodeficiency Disease? I have had Neuropathy on my right side for many years and my Neurologist said it is a caused by my CVID and by my having Shingles that went inside the nerve rather than outside on the skin. I have a mild case of Bell's Palsy on the right side of my face. So, now I am wondering it it to is caused by my CVID!

Many Thanks and God Bless,

Carol

Re: CVID and Bell's Palsy

I have never read anywhere that Bells Palsy is a symptom of CVID. Here's what I read about causes of BP:

The virus that causes chickenpox and shingles (herpes zoster)
The virus that causes mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr)
Another virus in the same family (cytomegalovirus)

That being said there are some of the herpes viruses (NOT STD's) that cause CVID - HHV6 or 8 (can't remember which haha sorry) and those (from how I understand it) are the ones like me who get the GLILD (lung disease). Soooooo now that I typed all this I suppose maybe they could all be related somehow? Sorry now I think I gave you a totally wonky answer.
