Been Absent for awhile!

Hi!
I have been absent from here for a while, and it is nice to be back!
First, I have been experiencing computer problems, where I could not connect to the website. I have a computer which is running an old system of windows xp and I haven't been able to access this site until today!
Secondly, I have been going through some medical tests to determine why I am experiencing bladder weakness. I have had blood tests taken, which have come back clear, no sign of infection or anything to indicate why I am experiencing the bladder weakness. I have had to keep a bladder diary, which I will present to the nurse, when I go back for a check-up the end of this week.
I am hoping that she can tell me, why I am continually leaking and why. I have been going through menopause, but am not sure whether the incontinence is just part of this, or if there is something else going on. I am not too sure what I will do, if they can't find anything wrong, as if the bladder leakage isn't down to the menopause, then why am I experiencing it? Does anyone have any ideas?

Re: Been Absent for awhile!

First make sure you see a urogynocologist as they are experienced in treating pelvic floor problems or leaking..I had stress incontinence leaking when coughing or sneezing and had a urethral bulking agent called coaptite last dec. just started leaking a little again and am going to have another round of coaptite injection done on August 11..it was wonderful no leaking for almost eight months so want to try it again..I'm 70 and active and hate wearing any protection to stay dry. So this is something you can ask your doctor about..

Re: Been Absent for awhile!

Thank you, JW90 for your support. At the moment, I am managing quite well, using protection and have some medical appointments with my G.P.
I think the G.P. will work with me, to find answers concerning my bladder weakness and possibly at a later stage I should be referred to a urogynocologist.
First off, I have had to keep a bladder journal, which I will present to the G.P. at my next appointment and then on those findings, she will look for answers and the best course of action to take concerning my bladder.
I have a feeling that this could be a long and involved journey, still not sure what the outcome will be or what will be recommended. I don't think I want surgery, so I suppose the only thing would be medication and wearing the protection. Well I will cross that bridge, when I come to it!

Re: Been Absent for awhile!

Well the coaptite injections are given in an out patient setting it only takes a few minutes after you have gone through all the testing. They look at your urethra with a small scope and put some numbing agent on it an inject each side to bulk up the urethra. I did not find this painful at all..I am an avid swimmer an have just now taken up stand up paddle boarding.... And if you had to wear protection all of those out door sports would not be very much fun..also do yoga and In the winter go skiing..hope you find success in whatever procedure you decide to choose
