Stress Incontinence- treatment

Ok

I'm a little embarrassed to say, but I think I have stress incontinence.
Sometimes when I sneeze or cough a little urine may leak out.
Very often when I play sports and I exert myself some comes out. I am overweight but only about 15 lbs or so. I've had 3 kids and 27 yrs old. I am way too YOUNG for this!! It'll happen while playing v-ball, tennis, jump roping...really anything. It's quite annoying. I am going to the docs tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem.
I've read online that there are treatments available. But it seems medication is for overactive bladder, which I don't have. Is surgery the only option?

So- if anyone has this, what treatment have you gotten?

Thanks!
April

Re: Stress Incontinence- treatment

I am 57 years old and I was told to do kegel exercises when I was your age. I did them for awhile and quit because I was never going to have those problems. My advice is to keep with them so when your my age you won't have problems everyday.

You have three children and that probably weakened your bladder muscles somewhat. Because of your age, if you do the exercises, you may regain some of your lost muscle function.

Re: Stress Incontinence- treatment

that's the thing- because of my age, I dont want these problems at all!!

What's going to happen when I am 60? or even 40 or 50?
I dont want this problem at ALL.
