Biking and incontinence

I had a robotic radical prostatectomy on 4/17/07 and am still having some incontinence problems. I have good days and bad. Recently, I have started back riding a bicycle. Only 10 miles per ride at this point. After riding on about two consecutive days, the next day my incontinence will be worse. I have an almost constant urge to urinate, leak a little more than usual just moving around. No problem at night or while sitting still. Are there other PC bikers out there who have same or different experiences after starting back on the bike?

Re: Biking and incontinence

i too am an avid biker. i tried to get back on the bikes at about six weeks. i was quite uncomfortable in doing so. my doctor told me i couldn't hurt myself and to take motrin or something. i didn't do it. instead, i bought a recumbent and i'm riding it quite a lot. the recumbent has not hurt me at all. riding it four or five times a week, so far up to as much as 35 miles, has not hurt my continence. i'm soon going to try the regular upright bikes again, i think. but i've come to really like riding a recumbent. i may try it in a century in the fall.
