BM incontinence?

Am 6 months pregnant and all is well other than this. Have had skin irritation around rectum and a feeling of pressure for awhile but recently have had incontience of bowel movements. Have had the sensation of a "leakage" (possibly causing the skin irritation)but nothing showing until lately and now it's definitely a problem. Has anyone else had this? I had a 4th degree tear last year with my first delivery. Dr says we'll watch the weight this time and may need a c-section, but am hoping its not necessary. Please help me understand this.

Re: BM incontinence?

I am so sorry you have to go through this but it seems this is quite common in 3rd and 4th degree tears for every pregnancy after the tear. I guess there is no cure or hope of any change. I am guessing the 4th degree tear has destroyed some of the spincter muscle and it is too relaxed when you are carrying a baby along with weight gain. I would suggest using Baby wipes so not to irritate so much and some nightly bag balm or some vasoline type ointment to soothe the area. Good luck.
