Weight loss after delivering - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

For those of you who gained about 30-40 pounds which is probably how much i will be gaining. How much did you lose right after delivering. I will not be breast feeding and i know that can help with the weight loss so it will probably take me longer. I am due in the fall and i am trying to figure out what size i will be right away and what size clothes i will be a month or 2 later.

you are going to have to play that one by ear. six months after my DS was born i am back in my orginal size however, i had and emergency c-secition 4 weeks before his due date. i lost 5 lbs coming home from the hosiptal - he wieghed 5 lbs

Do you lose less at first if you have a c-section?

i don't know....but you can't move around much... it takes a few days before you can walk without help and you can't lift or do much of anything else for about 3 weeks or more
i lost all 28 lbs in 6 months but the skin is still there...

I lost about 35lbs in 2 weeks, the majority of it came off in the first week. If I remember right about 25 of it came off the first week. I had a c-section and am bottlefeeding. I lost a larger then normal amount of blood during the surgery. So maybe that contributed. I was up walking around the next day. It took a couple days to get used to getting up and down. But once I was standing or sitting I felt fine. The initial getting up and down hurt. Oh, and the other thing that helped with weight loss was that I lost my appetite and cravings right away. Ssome people don't have this, they still have the same appetite and cravings that they had while pg.
