| Re: 6 month old not sitting yet
My son is just about 7 months now and he still can't sit on his own yet either. My dd was sitting on her own about 5 months. She wasn't as rolie polie as my son though, so I was thinking that maybe he is just too top heavy? I don't know, just a theory really.I certainly wouldn't worry about it though until after 9 months. Most babies sit up unsupported between ages 6-6 1/2 months to as late as 9 months. The only thing I can think of suggesting is to prop your baby up as much as you can to get the practice of sitting up. That will allow the right muscles to develop as well. Thats about all though. Babies take their time and will do things when they are good and ready. So hang in there, nothing to worry about yet. By the way, do you have the book :what to expect in the first year? It is very informative about what skills your baby should be doing; what they might be doing; and what they could possibly be doing. If you don't own it, its a great book to have. I have all three books. What to expect when your expecting, and what to expect in the toddler years. I still make refrences to it at times.
