Constipated - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My poor DD is constipated. I think anyway. She's pushing and pushing and then cries and NOTHING is in her diaper NOTHING. I just started her on Soy last Friday. I called her Dr about two hours ago and still NO return call. I am so sick of her Dr's office. What should I do for her? Then when she does go it's in a ball and hard yet sticky like. And the smell omg!

Yep she;s constipated....give her a tablespoon of Karo syrup mixed with milk or juice...really mixed with anything liquid...and they will do the trick....I promise.............

That's funny you said that because my Mom just told me to do the same. I'll have to mix it with her formula for she is only 7 weeks. Thanks though!!

Hi, our son is just 10 weeks old and our pedi told us to try mixing 1/2 ounce of water with 1/2 ounce of prune juice. It works wonders!!! Within an hour or two it usually cleans him right out! Otherwise, we were advised to use pediatric suppositories-- but to only use half. I agree the smell is horrible! It smells like rotten eggs. Poor babies!! Poor us!
