what we take for granted

so as most of you know i am a horse trainer. i work 4 days a week and it is the best of both worlds (mommy and career) and as always there is stress with owning your own buisness. things have been a little rough after having baby #2 with the family AND working dynamics, but we are rolling along. so last night i was riding a horse that i was showing to some clients as a prospect to buy. we were in a canter, which is a slow gallop when the horse just fell like a ton of bricks. his knee buckled and he could not regain his footing. he fell down to his right side which is where i ended up on the ground but because of the speed, his body kept going and he rolled over the top of me. yes it hurt. and amazingly enough i was not seriously injured. couple of bruises, thats about it. now i have been through just about everything that can happen with a horse, but this really made me realize that i take for granted my riding ability and that something like this can happen at anytime and no matter how experienced i am ---- you get the picture. i am not saying that i am going to give it up, but it is really hard for me to justify putting myself at this risk with 2 baby boys at home. i have been praying for a sign, could this be it? i am so sore, but elated that i am alive.

so give your babies a kiss and a love and never take your time together for granted. ever.

Re: what we take for granted

I'm so glad you are OK, that would be pretty scary and it would make me think as well. But remember that accidents like that happen so very rarely that driving to the grocery store is probably more dangerous. But it is definately your decision and something to think about. Again I am so happy you are OK.
Take care.

Re: what we take for granted

So glad you weren't hurt but something to ponder is this... maybe that is the sign. Maybe the message from God is you can fall down and still be OK. Only you can know what is best for you but I agree with kierrasmommy that accidents happen. I could fall down the stairs and be just as injured as you were or could have been. I mean you are so right we shouldn't take things for granted but you shouldn't give up something you love because there is a chance you could be injured. That is just my two cents. I'm sure you will make the right decision just trust your judgement.

Re: what we take for granted

wow , i think if it was sign he'd break a bone or two
accidents happen , and will happen ....
maybe the sign was for the people looking to buy the horse .. just a thought
glad your ok
and about your boys how lucky for them to grow up in such an awsome atmosphere
keep up the good work ,
"count your many blessings ,name them one by one , count your many blessings see what God has done"
i truley believe it was a small accident and your doing what your sopossed to be
