teething - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.. I'm finding that lately my DD cant get enough to eat.. it kind of seems like she is teething like she will eat 5 ounces of formula and then dont want anymore but goes right for her fist or her thumb like crazey as if she was teething.. now i know she cant be teething yet because she is only 9 weeks old.. was wondering what time do babies usually start teething.

That would be very early. My book says that teething starts usually around 7mo, but some can start as early as 3-4mo. Maybe she is doing that for comfort. My DS is 8wks old and just started puting his fist in his mouth too, which is nice b/c maybe he will now be able to comfort himself if I'm there w/ the pacifier.

She probably found them and is enjoying sucking on them. It is a form of discovery for them. You will find when she does start to teeth she will probably eat less or it may take her longer to finish the bottle. Her gums will be tender and may hurt a little to suck.

sucking on there hands is normal they find it a comfort.try giving a pacifer it helps.

My son got his first tooth at 4 months on the dot. So it meant that he was probably teething at 9 weeks.
