Seperation anxiety...mine not DS...how do you deal

Hi All....DS is 3 months old today.....He's been sleeping next to me in the basinet since day one. He's too big for the basinet....last night he clunked around trying to get comfortable. I think he would sleep better in his crib, but the thought of not having him next to me at night is killing me. His bedroom is upstairs....mine is down stairs. I have a guest room next to DS that I can sleep in untill I'm more comfortable. My house has an alarm, and we use the Angel Care monitor, as well as a video monitor, yet I just feel like I'm not ready for this!! Has anyone gone through there own seperation anxiety, and how did you deal with it? Any advice on getting over my paranoia so we can all sleep well at night? When did your babies start sleeping in there crib, or when do you plan on putting them in there crib?

Thank you

Re: Seperation anxiety...mine not DS...how do you deal

I don't have much advice for you, but I can certainly sympathize. My DS sleeps in a crib next to our bed right now. We are moving the end of October, and decided once we move, he'll go into his own room. I don't know how I will handle it. It is so great just to be able to peek over at him in the night and make sure he is okay. We have the AngelCare monitor too, and that helps me sleep much better at night. I am actually more worried about him moving up against the crib rail, as he is such a wiggler. I am sure I will be making many quick trips to his room, which will, unfortunately, be at the other side of the house. I also worried that he'll feel abandoned or something, which I know is silly, and that it will be much harder on me than him!!

Re: Seperation anxiety...mine not DS...how do you deal

My baby girl has slept in a crib in our room since day 1. That is the only choice since we have a 1 bedroom, but I plan to do that with all mine. Like you, I can't imagine my daughter having a room of her own even when we move next summer to a 2 bedroom. Hopefully by then I will be expecting baby number 2 so she will move out when new baby moves in. I think that will be easier on me.

By the way, I am new here; what is DS/DD??

Re: Seperation anxiety...mine not DS...how do you deal

I can only offer sympathy also. My son was in a co sleeper/my bed or his crib in our room until 10 months or so. I had worried I had waited to long to move him out of my bed, but he adjusted great at 8 months to his crib in our room. I am lucky his room is right next to mine, and I use a monitor, bur I hear every move he makes he has been in his room since 10 months or so. LOL I am one of those paranoid Mom's, and worry something will happen, I have to check on him. I am expecting again and fear I will get no sleep once this baby comes for checking on them both.
