I don't know his next appt isn't until Nov 30th. His first appt they said he was a bit small but it was only 2 weeks after he was born. He weighed 7 lbs 3 oz at birth but I can definitely tell he's been gaining weight, he's solid!
well to be honest, i weigh him on the scale i bought from babies r us so im not sure if its completely accurate... when i go on the regular scale with him then he comes out to 9 lbs... his next appt isnt until 2 mo, which would be the first week of december!! im not sure about percentile because i am not getting this reading from a doctor!! im just worried that he is eating alot!!
my dd was 6lbs 13oz and was 8lbs 2oz at 2 weeks and 13lbs 8oz at 2 months... so i dunno maybe i just have chubby children as babies lol... now she is 19mo and weighs 26 pounds... she hasnt gained anything since her first birthday. i dunno why my babies get so chubby so fast... neither of us are big ppl so its weird lol.
At this stage your baby will let you know when they are hungry. They won't eat too much. My son gained almost 3 pounds the first month! He is 3 months now and eats a lot less than he did in the beginning. He is a good sized baby, but not fat! He did not start eating every 3-4 hours until he was 2 months.
My daughter weighed 9 lbs at birth (born Feb. 16th) now weighs about 20-21 lbs. My doctor has told me that babies should triple their weight by 1 year old. I think my daughter is pretty much right on schedule. I would say that usually babies gain about 1-2 pounds a month.. a little more or a little less. Three pounds in one month does seem a little fast...but it will probably slow down...as long as the doctor thinks everything is okay.
My daughter ate like every 2-2 1/2 hours at first...8 bottles a day...she is on similac isomil advanced..maybe you should ask the doc about changing the formula??
My little girl weighed 6 lbs 13 oz at birth and was odd in that she never lost any weight from her birth weight. At 1 week she weighed 7lbs 6oz and now weighs just under 12 lbs at 3 months. She was breastfeed for the first week and after trying every formula almost on the market has been on Enfamil Nutramigen for a month. She is allergic to soya and milk based formulas. I was glancing at my old baby book and I noticed that some months I put on 3 lbs and other months a pound. I think some kids just put on weight differently. My back sure has noticed her weight gain!
My daughter is exclusively breastfed. She was 6lbs 15oz at birth. When we left the hospital she was 6lbs 9oz. She is now 8 weeks and weighs 12lbs 10oz. She loves her boobie ;-). I do on demand feeding based on how much she wants. She generally wants to eat every two-three hours. Sometimes she'll go four hours, but that's usually only once a day. I don't really worry about how much she's getting at each feeding because I trust her to know when she's full. She's gaining weight, so it seems she's doing just fine.
Even though I don't monitor her exact fluid oz intake, I can still tell if she isn't eating enough because I know her feeding habits in general. That is one of the first things I noticed when she was sick and had to be hospitalized. She wasn't "demanding" to be fed nearly as much as usual. Big red flag. She's back to normal now though. Eating like a little barracuda.

You aren't feeding him too much, so continue doing what you do. You're doing just fine, and babies can weight at their own pace. I have neevr seen a baby over eat, they know how much they need.
I totally agree. My DS is a little piggie but he is so healthy and happy. I don't argue with him when he is rooting. (I usually try to bink first to see if he just wants to suck....but he'll just get angry with the bink if he is really hungry)
I always think, it's not as if he is a two year old demanding candy or just eatin becuase he is bored. Babies grow so much and milk is SO not filling!!!! So don't worry about overeating. I asked my doc and he said feed on demand. (after the nurse told me to starve him and I was like....NO.)
He is richest who is content with the least, for content is the wealth of nature.
DS was born october 7th at 6lbs 10oz, and he is now 9 1/2 pounds!! all he wants to do is eat!! 4 oz each feed and sometimes gets hungry before 3 hours!! am i feeding him too much??
Mine was born the 7th too. I don't know exactly what she weighs now, but she was 7 lbs even when she was born. Yesterday I got on the scale alone, then with her, and it looks like she weighs 10 now. She eats about 3 1/2 oz per feeding, but I know what you mean about getting hungry before 3 hours. I read that babies can go through growth spurts where they eat a bit more than normal.
