Can a baby teethe at 2 months? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My DD has been really scuking her hands for the past few days? Could she be teething already or is she just really discovering her hands? I don't see any teeth coming in yet. Which are the first teeth to come in? She is also beginning to drool to.

Hi there...I have been working at a child care center for 6 years and yes I have seen infants teeth at that early age. Although, like you said she just might have discovered her little hands. Drool, fussiness and fever are all symtoms of teething although that is not true for all children like mine who never gives me any reason to think she is teething. Some infants are ever born with a tooth or two. At her next check upi just express your concerns to your PCP to get professional advice, but this is my knowledge from my expereince. We thought that about DS as well a few weeks ago especially since he was extremely grouchy at about the same time. He's 2.5 months old now and it looks like he had just discovered his hands. He sucks on them all the time now and his mood is back to normal. Even in the middle of the night I'll wake up and here all sorts of sucking, smacking noises from the crib. He won't take his paci anymore, just the fists, blankets and even his sleeper if it bunches up the right way. He also started drooling at about the same time. Apparently after a few months they do start to drool alot more even without teeth. Hope that helps.

Our baby is 3 months and she's been drooling like a faucet for a couple weeks now. Our pediatrician said that's normal, and teeth GENERALLY begin around 4 months. Of course they can come sooner, or later. My mom told me I didn't get my first teeth until I was 7 months old.

Ava also found her hands the same as what you are all describing and at the same time.
