He went 5 1/2 hours, is that okay? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My DS will be a month old on Sunday and he usually goes 3 hours between feedings. Last night we fed him at 9 and he ended up spitting up a TON of his food, but he went right to sleep. I didn't hear from him again until 2:30 am, and he was just barely waking up. He wasn't crying or anything!! He didn't even have a dirty diaper, just wet. So I fed him at 2:30 and put him down and he didn't wake up again until 6:30 am. 4 hours!!!

Should I be alarmed? I know eveyone says to never wake a sleeping baby but this is a little extreme, don't you think? I am very thankful for the wonderful night of sleep I got, but I can't help feeling odd about it.

Congratulations!! How did if feel? They say the baby should eat every 2-3 hours and 1 5hour stretch. I remember that from when I first had him, but I think as long as they are eating well, having a baby sleep through the night is fantastic! Don't be alarmed. The first time it happens you freak though, I did. I checked to see if he was breathing and everything. He probably spit up because he had so much to eat. So, he had to sleep it all off.
