Cold meds for bfing mom - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

Hey ladies.
I have a slight cold and I am breastfeeding. anyone know what over the counter meds I can take? Keeping my fingers crossed that Dylan doesn't catch it!! Thank you in advance!

Id call your Dr to make sure, but mine told me I could take Tylenol, sudafed or benadryl. Just make sure you drink tons of extra water with them to keep your milk supply up.

I didn't take anything..I'd just have some apple cider before bed..warm bath..and had the humidifier going at night...and some cough drops through the day..
hope you feel better!
And, yes talk to your Dr. b/c they can recommend some safe meds like the previous poster said

As your body is making antiboties to fight off your sickness your body is passing those to the baby - thus he will have the antiboties to fight off the sickness. Isn't the body amazing!!
