When to call the Doctor? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

DS is 11 weeks old and has a slight cough, and I mean slight. He is barely coughing but it is a cough. I don't know if I should call the Doctor or if I am being silly. He is eating, playing and doing everything normally. He doesn't sit there and cough, just cough here and there. I don't know what to do. I feel like I am being silly to call the Doc when he seems fine and he only coughs a tad bit. but I am paranoid! TIA!

I wouldn't call just yet, I would wait and see if any other symptoms occur. If he starts not eating right, runny nose, stuffy, fever, worse coughing etc... then I would call, he may just have a dry throat or something like that, I know we have forced hot air for heat, and your throat gets very dry at times. good luck

check the temp - anything 100.4 or more call the Doc asap.

I might wait as well, At that age, Jack started coughing because he learned how to! Trust your instincts.

Like Dizzy said, at that age he may just have figured out how to cough! DS was always clearing his throat at that age. Keep your eye on it, but it sounds like its probably nothing
