Red face Riding in the car/Car seats

Ok question #1- How old or what size does the little ones have to be to be turned around in the car/not be rear facing?

Question #2- Maybe someone can think of a reason...My little man is 6 months old almost and from about a month old, he has HATED riding in a car, we thought it was his carseat, so we got a new one, that wasnt it, I thought, maybe its our car, but he has done it in 3 different cars...he screams and cries the entire car ride, with toys, or no toys, light or no light, someone with him, or someone not with him, idk what is going on, I thought maybe his straps werent tight enough, or too tight, that wasnt the problem either, all I can now think of is because he is facing pretty much nothing, i want to turn him around but i dont want to put him in any danger, but i also dont see the harm in it, i know if you have an accident, his head will go foward, but if we get hit from the back and he is rear facing the same thing will happen...

Anyone got any hints or tips...this is a headache...literally...

Re: Riding in the car/Car seats

They say about 20 pounds and/or 1 year old. But ask your Dr. If you have a big baby they might say you can do it sooner. I think at 6 months it is too young to forward face.

As far as driving in the car goes, my dd was that way but not for long. I do know how frustrating it can be though. I was like you and I bought and tried everything. Then I found this Fisher Price mirror which is big and she can see herself and she loves looking at the mirror. It also plays music and has lights too. It comes with a little remote control so if she gets fussy while I am driving, all i have to do is push the button.

Re: Riding in the car/Car seats

the law is 20lbs and 1 yr old, and if a doctor tells you to do so before then, he is wrong, I just had a friend go through this whole thing at the police department as they were showing her how to properly use the carseat and what not, you would be surprised at how many people use the carseats wrong lol. I personally woul not turn your son around, the impact from behind does not jerk you the way you think it would, I was sitting in the back with my ds as we got rearended and he barely moved, and it was a hard enough hit to total my van lol, specially if you dont see it coming a frontal hit, jerks you more cause you are slamming into something, you really would be surprised at the difference between the two hits.

I have not had problems with my kids in the car so I dont have advice on that. for your babies safety, don't turn him around, try a mirror so he can look at himself, or ones that he can see you. some kids ust dont like cars, my friend had a lil girl who hated the car and she was 2 and turned around lol. good luck

Re: Riding in the car/Car seats

Hugs is right. Their necks are just too week to handle sitting foward in case of impact. It is minimum 20lbs and one year. They must meat both of these requirements to switch. DD cries everytime she is by herself in the back seat no matter how long the trip. I feel your pain but for now I would get a mirror. Good Luck!

Re: Riding in the car/Car seats

we have a mirror,lol...always have, no matter what, he screams, i wasnt planning on turning him around, I was just curious how long we have to wait, i have him in a 5 point harness car seat that sits up, he HATED the infant one, im thinkin of buying a carseat like i have but with the bar that goes across, i try to get him to play with things in the car but he always drops them, so maybe if i do this and strap a toy onto it, it will work, just alot of friggin money, goin on a 3rd carseat and he is only 6 months
